How to Soften Beard Stubble

Sharp, irritating stubble has been a daily curse for many men, and just as often for the women who love them. Outside of electrolysis, however, stubble can hardly be avoided--but its impact can be softened. Read on to learn how to soften beard stubble. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

While you shower, add conditioner. Let sit for a few minutes, and rinse. Over time, your stubble should slowly lose its irritating edge.

    • 2

Use a pre-shave face scrub. Gently massage into your face and neck, to remove the excess oil and ensure a cleaner shave.

    • 3

Shave in the evening, as well as the morning. This will cut off irritating stubble at the pass, and prevent it from growing long enough to be easily noticed.

    • 4

Go the opposite direction. Let your stubble grow out, to at least a quarter inch in length. Over time, the ends of the stubble fray out microscropically, in effect dulling the stubble.

    • 5

If in serious doubt, consider a depilatory powder to dissolve your facial hair. Use this powder with extreme caution. Depilatory powder is highly alkaline, and can chemically burn the face if incorrectly applied. It also takes several days for the hair to grow back after a single treatment--although the hair will grow back finer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use depilatory powders only after three or four days of not shaving, and post-condition your face thoroughly. You may want to test the powder on a small area of your face, and evaluate the results in the coming days, before applying to the whole face. Do not, under any circumstances, use a depilatory powder designed for women's legs.
