Instructions

First and foremost, have confidence in yourself. This is, of course, easier said than done, especially when you are a teen. The most important thing to remember is that everyone is in the same boat as you. With few exceptions, most teenagers are all equally unsure of themselves and insecure, it's just part of growing up. Keep this in mind. You are not special, you are going through the same things everyone else goes through. Be proud of who you are, and do your best to live and learn in the moment.

Keep things in perspective. Ask yourself this question, will it matter in 10 years? If the answer is no, then don't worry about it too much. It may seem that peer pressure is too difficult to handle, it may seem that if you don't get that certain prom date you're going to be a loser forever, it may seem hopeless, but it's not. At the end of the day, being a teenager is just a six-year period of your life, and high school is even shorter. If things seem tough, just remember they'll get better.

Take chances. It is very, very important to keep this in mind, especially when dealing with dating. If you want to ask someone out, do it. The worst that can happen is rejection, and that really isn't that big of a deal. So many people look back on their high school days and adolescent days and wish they would've asked so-and-so to the prom or have been more persistent in pursuing so-and-so, try not to have any of those regrets. Just have confidence, and be yourself.

Adopt your own style. Dress how you want to dress, listen to the music you want to listen to, and pursue the activities that you want to pursue. If somebody has a problem with that, it's their problem and not yours. People will respect you if you have this attitude, and you will be light-years beyond most of your peers.

Tips & Warnings

  • Believe in yourself and don't give up.

  • Do not be intimidated by things you are unsure of, it is natural to be timid, just do your best.
