Wearing concealer to hide skin imperfections or dark, under-eye circles is simple: all you have to do is apply. Making sure you have the right concealer shade, however, is the difference between having seemingly perfect skin and looking like you're wearing concealer. This makeup should be tested, before buying when possible, to ensure that it blends into your skin.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Choose a few concealers to test. Preferably, shop at a department store makeup counter, where sales staff can help you. They provide testing samples for the majority of their products, which you won't find in most drug stores.

  2. Step 2

Apply concealer to places where needed. This can include under the eyes or on top of any discolorations.

  3. Step 3

Blend the concealer well with your pinkie or ring finger. These fingers provide less pressure on delicate areas such as around the eyes.

  4. Step 4

Use a mirror to check your concealer placement.

  5. Step 5

Step outside or close to a window where you can see how the concealer looks in natural daylight. It's important to test concealer makeup during the day for this step.

  6. Step 6

Check to see if the concealer matches your skin tone. If it's obvious that you're wearing concealer, try another shade.

  7. Step 7

Buy the concealer that best blends into your skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • You should begin by choosing three to four concealers in shades close to your skin tone.
  • If you need light coverage, choose a liquid concealer.
  • Don't wear concealer in shades much lighter than your skin. Instead of hiding any flaws, it will call attention to your makeup.
