Wearing foundation makeup can make your skin appear even-toned and clear. It's important to choose foundation that matches your complexion so that people notice you, not your makeup. Wear foundation that enhances your beauty, not hides it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Foundation makeup
  • Cosmetic sponge (optional)
  • Foundation brush (optional)
  1. Step 1

Place a dime size amount of foundation on your first two fingertips if you're using a liquid formula.

  2. Step 2

Dot the foundation on your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin.

  3. Step 3

Apply stick foundation directly to your face. Dot on your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin.

  4. Step 4

Blend with clean fingers all the way to your hairline and just past your jawline. You can use a cosmetic sponge to help with blending if needed.

  5. Step 5

Use a foundation brush to ensure complete coverage in the area around your eyes and nose.

  6. Step 6

Apply foundation only on areas where you need coverage if your complexion is already clear. Foundation can be used to camouflage dark spots.

Tips & Warnings
  • Only use the amount of coverage you need. If your skin is pretty even, you might only need a light layer of foundation.
  • Blend your foundation well so that no lines are visible at your hairline or jawline.
  • Liquid foundations tend to provide lighter coverage than solid or cake foundations.
  • Don't try to change your skin tone by wearing foundation that differs from your complexion. It will be very obvious you're wearing makeup that doesn't match your skin.
  • Don't wear foundation when exercising. Your skin can't breathe as easily with makeup on your face.
