In American Idol’s 7th Season, one performer has stood out and become more than the rest and his name is David Archuleta. Archuleta has gained millions of fans worldwide and has given many memorable performances including John Lennon’s “Imagine.” It may take a lot of work, but eventually you could perform like David Archuleta.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Looks. At 17 years old, David Archuleta looks like a young boy so the younger you are the better. Archuleta usually has a smile plastered on his face and seems kind of shy with a lot of attention. He dresses with a preppy look that includes a mix of polos, T-shirts and other collared shirts. One week, he even wore leather pants.

  2. Step 2

Instruments. David Archuleta’s voice has excelled on American Idol, but thanks to a new rule, fans also have also seen him perform on the piano. You should have prior experience on the piano or take lessons quickly because he has been flawless on the piano, including his performance for “Another Day in Paradise.”

  3. Step 3

During that performance, Archuleta actually got up from the piano in the middle of the song, so you really need to perfect your rhythm and be able to multi-task while you are performing.

  4. Step 4

Song Choice. David Archuleta has a very distinct song choice that can be seen throughout Season 7 on American Idol. His songs are usually “message” songs, often about hopes and dreams or tragedies. Examples of this can be seen with “Angels,” “Imagine,” “Another Day in Paradise” and “If You Believe.”

  5. Step 5

The songs also tend to be slower ballads where you can really show your emotion, but he has performed some fast songs like “Shop Around.”

  6. Step 6

Stage Presence. When he is on stage, you can definitely see his confidence and comfort when performing. His songs have a lot of emotion in them and he can go from a low tone to a high tone flawlessly.

  7. Step 7

He also had a problem with his vocal cords that gives his voice a unique scratchiness that could be challenging to duplicate when you are singing, so try to stick to your natural voice.

  8. Step 8

Before and after performances, Archuleta is all smiles so make sure that you remain happy and almost bashful in front of your fans.
