How to Do a Knee Push Up

Although the classic variety is most well-known, push-ups come in all shapes and sizes. Knee push-ups may provide a little variety to your workout, or may prove more comfortable for you than the other options.

Instructions

    • 1

Assume the standard push-up position: feet together behind you, back straight and arms straight and facing palms-down.

    • 2

Lower your knees to the floor, where they'll remain. You can either lay your shins flat against the floor, or bend your knees up so that the soles of your feet are parallel to the ceiling.

    • 3

Inhale, bend your arms and slowly lower yourself to the floor. Lower your chest until it almost reaches the floor.

    • 4

Hold this lowered position for a few seconds.

    • 5

Exhale and straighten your arms. Return to Step 3 and repeat.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your entire spine straight throughout the exercise.
