While having a family is a beautiful thing, sometimes the people we are the close to the most can be the ones that we hurt. If you need help on being kind to your family, read these tips to give your family the respect they deserve.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Always watch what you say. This applies mostly when parents get the short end of the stick when it comes to their children. It can be a little spat between the two or become a full blown argument with screaming or hurtful words. No matter what a parent may say, the best thing a child can do is listen and not sass back, because arguing will not only add more fuel but shows you have little respect when you're against your elders.

  2. Step 2

When parents set rules, they expect a child to abide by them. Be mindful when your parents want you to do chores around the house or be home before a curfew. You need to remember that you're living under their roof and they are teaching you how to be responsible.

  3. Step 3

Address your parents in a considerate way. Whenever your parent calls your name, don't say "What," "Yeah" or "What do you want." Using those responses shows rudeness and having little to no regards for your parents. It is much better to say "Yes ma'am" or "No sir" or "Yes Mom and Dad." You are acknowledging who they are and not talking to them the same way you will do your friends.

  4. Step 4

Show your parents some love. There is one thing a person must know, whether they are young or old there is never enough time when they can do things for their parents. Showing appreciation to them can be the littlest things like giving them breakfast in bed or telling them they are the greatest parent in the world. A parent likes to know their child thinks the world of them and is grateful for what they are given.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that you have only one family so make them feel special, as they won't be here forever.
  • Never take your parents for granted.
  • Constant direspect towards a parent can be a bad trait and possibly your child can do the exact same to you.
