Things You'll Need:
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Footage from multiple cameras
- Firewire
-
Step 1
First you must add your clips to a sequence and synchronize them. You are recording a multi-camera edit from footage that you have already assembled in the Timeline.
-
Step 2
Select the target sequence in the Timeline panel, by clicking on it. Next, choose the “Multi-Camera Monitor” from the Program Monitor panel menu. It is the little arrow at the upper right hand corner of the Monitor panel.
-
Step 3
In the Multi-Camera Monitor pop-up, click the Record On/Off button.
-
Step 4
You can choose to use the audio from track 1 regardless of which camera is active, by making sure that “Audio Follows Video” is deselected in the Multi-Camera Monitor panel menu. To have the audio track change as you change cameras, select “Audio Follows Video.”
-
Step 5
Click the play button in the Multi-Camera Monitor to play the video from all cameras at once. The footage from the active camera track will be recorded in the multi-camera target sequence. A red border around it will indicate which camera is active and the larger preview shows you which content you are recording.
-
Step 6
To switch to another camera and record its content, click on the corresponding small preview in the Multi-Camera Monitor. You can also switch cameras using the appropriate keyboard shortcut. Number keys 1, 2, 3 and 4 correspond to each camera.
-
Step 7
When you are done recording, click the “Stop” button or the “Record” button. You can then use the playback controls as usual to preview your sequence.
