Mother's Day is meant to be a day of celebration and thanks for all mothers and their contribution to society. Although you should show appreciation every day, this international holiday is an opportunity to spend some extra time with your mother, grandmother or wife, bonding and enjoying each other's company. Recognized on the second Sunday of May each year, here are some ideas for how to celebrate Mother's Day with your mother.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Give your mother the day off . Let her relax and sleep in, clean the house and make her breakfast in bed or dinner. She'll appreciate a day of rest and love from her family.

  2. Step 2

Pamper her. Spend a day at the spa together. Give her a back massage yourself. Go for a manicure or pedicure together or give your grandmother a manicure.

  3. Step 3

Take your mother out to lunch or dinner at her favorite restaurant and enjoy spending some time catching up. No matter how close you may or may not be, bonding over tasty food is always a good way to go.

  4. Step 4

Spend time helping your mom do something that she loves or working on a project that she needs to finish. Does she need help with painting or redecorating a room in her house? Weeding the entire garden? Baking 300 cupcakes for the bake sale? What matters most is that you are spending time working together.

  5. Step 5

Shower her in gifts--anything from a homemade card or a bouquet of her favorite flowers to jewelry or tickets to a show she's been wanting to see. Material items might not be the most important thing on Mother's Day and she would probably prefer quality time together, but presents never hurt and your mother is worth it.

  6. Step 6

Go on a mini-vacation together. Take a relaxing weekend together at the beach, go out for a picnic lunch, visit the nearest city for an evening and go to the theater. Celebrate mothers day with your mother by spending time with your mother and enjoy what a wonderful mother she is.
