When auditioning for a part in a play, the last thing anyone needs is stress, yet stress is a natural reaction when someone feels judged. Let's face it, another person is judging your acting abilities and will decide who will be hired. Coping successfully with stress during a monologue audition can help an actor get one step closer to landing a dream role.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Remember to breathe and to visualize success. Before going to the audition, make sure to visualize yourself doing a great job. Also, doing some breathing warm-ups once on site can decrease anxiety levels.
Step2
Know the monologue. Be 100 percent comfortable with the words and the character.
Step3
Practice the monologue out loud in front of other people many times before the audition.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember, the director is not judging the person who is auditioning, but the character the actor is creating. Don't take rejection personally.
