How to Uninstall Bittorrent
Bittorrent is a peer-to-peer (P2P) sharing protocol that allows users to store and share files with others while reducing the need for storage space and sharing the burden among many computers. Their are numerous bittorent clients available, which gives users the option to find the client that works best for them. If you're using a bittorrent client and find something you like better, it's relatively simple to uninstall it.

Navigate to the "Start" menu and click "Settings" then "Control Panel." If you are running XP, you can simply navigate to the Control Panel.

Locate the "Add/Remove Programs" icon and double-click on it.

Find the name of your bittorrent client on the program list and click on it.

Click on "Remove" and affirm that you want to remove the program when you are prompted for confirmation.

Close the "Add/Remove" dialog box and then close the Control Panel window.

Navigate to "My Computer," either by double-clicking on the desktop icon or through the "Start" menu.

Find and double-click your hard drive icon.

Locate the "Programs" folder, double-click on it and find the folder with the name of your bittorrent client.

Delete the folder. The bittorrent client will now be unistalled.

Run the package manager your particular distribution of Linux uses. Ubuntu, for example, uses a packet manager called Apt with the Synaptic graphical interface, while other distributions may use other managers like Yum or RPM.

Search for the bittorrent package that you want to uninstall, if your package manager uses a graphical interface. If not, you'll need to open a command prompt, type the command for the package manager and feed it the bittorrent package name. If you're unsure of the command, bring up the manual page. In Apt, for example, this can be done by typing: "man apt get"

Locate the command used for unistallation. This command is frequently "uninstall" or "remove." Whichever one your distribution uses, type it on the command line along with the bittorent client name and wait while it processes.

It's very simple to uninstall bittorrent on a Mac. Merely locate the application folder and drag it to the trash. You can also delete the associated preferences by deleting the "~/Library/Preferences/BitTorrent.plist" file.
