Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Learn how to type the proper way. Many people learn the correct way to type in high school or college, forgetting it once they enter the working world. Purchase a home typing software program and give yourself a few lessons. This will automatically help you type at a rapid pace.
Step2
Use a wristguard when typing long documents. Your wrists will be elevated at the level of the keypad, helping improve circulation. This will also prevent tendon or muscle damage by overuse. If your wrists are comfortable, you'll be more apt to type quickly.
Step3
Learn shorthand. In a way similar to writers or journalists, learn how to abbreviate when typing. If you are drafting a memo or professional correspondence, it's wise to type in proper English. But, if you're sending a quick e-mail or note, feel free to abbreviate words and symbols.
Step4
Practice, practice, practice. When you practice typing, don't look at the keys as you type. You'll find how quickly you pick up on the keypad, knowing instinctually where letters and numbers are, without having to look down.
Step5
Have good posture. Keep your back and neck upright, with your feet planted firmly on the floor. If your entire body is balanced, you'll be able to type at a rapid pace, with a much longer success rate.
Step6
Stretch your fingers and give them a rest every so often. If your wrists and fingers are worn out, you'll be less productive. Take a quick break here and there to relieve your muscles and tendons.
