How to Make Goat Cheese Croutons

Tired of the same old salads and soups? Add some toasted sophisticated crunch with a batch of goat cheese croutons. Just start with six slices of either stale or fresh baguette and have some goat cheese on hand. These will be larger croutons than your standard bagged variety, but you can break them into smaller pieces if you like. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 6 slices baguette
  • 6 tbsp. goat cheese
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • Olive oil (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

      Toast six slices of baguette at 300 degrees for 10 minutes in a conventional oven or toaster oven. If you like a rich crouton, spray or brush slices with olive oil beforehand.

      Remove from oven and generously spread 1 tbsp. of goat cheese over each slice of toast.

      Return to the oven and bake for one more minute.

      Arrange warm croutons (slices) over a salad with light dressing or a simple hot soup such as tomato, potato, onion or even black bean. Grind fresh pepper over your dish and enjoy.
