Despite Austin's t-shirt, Birkenstocks and patchouli oil reputation, many of its residents are concerned with their appearance. Hair removal can be part of that. If you want to look smooth, check out some of these places:

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find The Aesthetica Med Spas in two locations, on South Capital of Texas and up on Research. Here you can choose either of two techniques for hair removal--the LightSheer or the EpiLight. You can also get peels, Swedish massage, facials, liposuction and laser tattoo removal.

  2. Step 2

Get some quick salon work done during lunch or spend the day at Joie de Vie European Salon & Day Spa on East Sixth . Their Days of Joy packages run between $150 and $375. They provide hair, body and nail work and you can get a lip wax for $15 or a Brazilian for $75.

  3. Step 3

Head to the Strip Wax Studio on South Congress where you can get your lip waxed for a mere $10 and a Brazilian and full leg wax for $110. Massage and acupuncture are also available.

  4. Step 4

Go to 3 Graces, A Day Spa on Balcones Drive. You can opt for permanent hair removal with the EpiLight technique, which will run $100 a session for 3 sessions to remove lip hair and $750 a session for 3 sessions to remove hair on a full leg. If you'd prefer a wax, those rates run from $15 for the lip to $85 for a Brazilian. 3 Graces also offers lipo, botox, acupuncture, chemical peels and microdermabrasion.

  5. Step 5

Schedule an appointment at Jamila Salon & Spa on Rockwood if Western techniques of waxing aren't you're thing. There they practice an Eastern technique called threading, whereby cotton thread is used to remove hair. Eyebrow threading is $12, while a facial goes for $40. The spa provides much of the usual spa services, but you can get henna tattooing there as well.
