How to play Orcs in Warcraft III

Zug Zug! Orcs are one of the two original races in Warcraft, and they're back again for the third installment in the series. These little green guys are the favorite of many players, in part because they are the comic relief of Warcraft. But don't let that fool you; orcs are a formidable foe, especially when bolstered by their new allies.

Instructions

    • 1

Send your peons to get gold and wood, create more peons to do the same and build some burrows around your town. If you get attacked, click on battle stations to drop your peons into the burrows to prevent them from being killed and allow them to fight back.

    • 2

Note that the burrows serve as wonderful farms with a bonus, but are still insufficient for defense on their own. Either build a war mill and some guard towers, or start pumping grunts out of the barracks.

    • 3

Spiked barricades is an upgrade that causes your buildings to deal damage to melee attackers. Researching this can cause attacking troops to literally kill themselves on your walls, especially if you have any unburrowed peons repairing the defending building.

    • 4

Before you go raiding any opposing towns, be sure to research pillage. This ability gives you resources for attacking opposing buildings in melee, essentially turning all your destruction into free mining and harvesting as well. Once you have pillage, sending a team of raiders to quickly destroy an opposing farm and then flee back to town will not only hurt your opponent, but grant you some much-needed resources as well.

    • 5

Don't forget your big units. Taurens with pulverize make excellent ground troops if you can afford them, and kodo beasts and shamans (with bloodlust) will both increase the offensive power of your army.

Tips & Warnings

  • The shadow hunter's "big bad voodoo" ability can make almost your whole army invincible for 30 seconds. It's like a divine shield on steroids, so take advantage of it and ransack the opposing town while you can.

  • Like divine shield, some players find invincibility distasteful.
