Step 1
Since 1975, Georgean and Paul Kyle at Rootin' Ridge Toymakers have made sturdy, reasonably-priced wooden toys, games, puzzles, bird feeders and nesting boxes by hand. Though their prices are already low, they do have a few sales. Their anniversary sale is held annually at the end of March. If you are a regular customer you can get a coupon that can be applied in September.

Step 2
Try Zinger Hardware & General Market. This hardware store is not one of those enormous warehouses. It's human-sized and quite unusual. In addition to offering the usual hardware, garden supplies and paint, it also sells kitchenware, kitschy and nostalgic gifts, specially-blended coffees, bath items and tableware. It often has specials on such furniture as Adirondack chairs.

Step 3
Go to Yogagroove. Open 364 days a year, this 3000-square-foot Bikram yoga studio in North Austin offers a $28 sign-up special all year-round to any new member. This entitles you to unlimited classes and free towel and mat rental in the first month.

Step 4
Visit Precision Camera & Video. Opened in 1976, Precision offers both equipment and classes. New customers get a free class in basic digital photography and a coupon for 50 free digital prints. Precision also has major sales in May and December with such special deals as fifty percent off for the first ten people to buy a camera.

Step 5
Dobie Mall, located one block from the UT campus, is on the bottom two floors of the high-rise dormitory where the young Michael Dell founded his computer company. Funny Papers is one of the oldest comic book stores in town. Its ceiling tiles have been autographed and decorated by an army of comic book artists and cartoonists. It's unique among the comic stores in Austin in that if you sign up for the subscription service you get a fifteen percent discount on anything on your list. There are also major discounts offered during the summer, chiefly in connection with national Free Comic Book Day and the release of any major comic book-related movie.
