Things You'll Need:

  • Digital camera
  • Computer
  • Connection cord
  1. Step 1

The first thing you should do to move pictures from your camera to your computer is to install the camera software on your computer. Simply place the disk in your computer and follow the instructions on screen. Generally you will be required to restart your computer before the software will start working, but it should prompt you to do this as well during installation.

  2. Step 2

After you have installed the software and rebooted if necessary, you can plug the connector cord into your camera and then into the computer. The smaller end of the cord hooks to your camera, while the larger one hooks to your USB ports. These should be located on the front of your computer or in the back towards the middle or bottom. They will look like little slots, and most computers have two to six depending upon specific brand.

  3. Step 3

Once the cord is connected in both places turn the camera on. At this point some computers will automatically detect the camera, and they will open the software or ask you if that is what you want to do. If this does not occur you will need to open the software yourself by going to start menu, selecting programs and finding exactly what you need.

  4. Step 4

After opening the software it will generally ask you whether or not you want to download or capture the images. By clicking "Yes" you can start transferring your pictures from your camera to your computer in a matter of mere seconds. However, if this does not occur, you will need to look for the capture or download button in the toolbox located on the screen.

  5. Step 5

Finally after all your pictures have been transferred and saved to your computer you can unhook the cords. You should also turn off your camera in order to prevent the battery from going down. After that you can simply sit back and enjoy your pictures on your computer or print them out to share with family and friends.
