The quick release knot has many uses. The most common use for the quick release knot is to tie horses so that if the horse panics, the knot comes loose without harming the horse. The quick release knot can be used for many other purposes as well, such as when tying ties or rope belts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Loop the rope around a post, or your waist if you are tying a rope belt. The rope can also be threaded through a ring or loop of twine. One end of the rope should be short and one end long.
Step2
Cross the short end under the long end of the rope.
Step3
Cross the short end back over the long end and pull a loop up through the circle that is made.
Step4
Pull the rope tight. To release the knot, simply pull on the loose end, which will pull the loop back through the circle and untie the knot.
