Instructions

    • 1

Prepare to tell others their gift is a donation made in their name by researching the charitable organization you donated to. Find out its mission and how gifts help with its programs and services.

    • 2

Find a graphic or photo of something that represents the organization you gave to. For instance, if it’s an animal rescue, use a picture of a dog or cat.

    • 3

Print the graphic or picture on the front of the card with a headline that reads “Thank You.”

    • 4

Print your message inside the card. For example, “[Your name] has made a gift donation in your name to ABC Animal Rescue, which helps save the lives of more than 300 dogs and cats every month. Your gift will provide critical resources for the shelter, food and adoption outreach program to help these animals find the loving homes they need and deserve. You can learn more about us at www.ABCAnimalRescue.org.”

Address the envelope to the gift recipient, and mail or give it to them in person.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you cannot find blank greeting cards or you’re not comfortable formatting one, use a nice paper instead. Simply print “Thank You” in a large font at the top of the page with the graphic or picture underneath. Then print the message below. You may want to use a 14-point or 16-point font size for the text, though 12-point will work just fine for longer messages.

  • When you tell others their gift is a donation made in their name, feel free to go into detail as to why the recipient of your gift inspired you to make a donation in their name--because of their giving spirit or the fact that they’re a big animal lover.

  • If you prefer, write your message in first person. For example, “I made a gift donation in your name,” and so on. Then simply sign your name after your message, at the bottom of the card or page.
