How to Use Multiple Sequences Simultaneously in Adobe Premiere Pro

When you begin a new project in Adobe Premiere Pro, one of the first things you will need to do is create a new sequence. However, a single project can contain multiple sequences, which can come in handy if you have many clips which you want to edit separately and combine later. All the sequences in a project share the same timebase, which defines how Adobe Premiere Pro calculates time and which cannot be changed after you create the project.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
To set the default settings for new sequences, click on the Project panel to make it active. Go to "Project," then "Project Settings," then "Default Sequence." Here you can specify the number and type of video and audio tracks each sequence will have by default.
Step2
Add new sequences by going to the Project panel, which is usually the window in the top left hand space of the Workspace. Click the “New Item” button which looks like a square with its bottom left corner folded back. Choose “Sequence.”
Step3
In the New Sequence dialog box that opens, you can specify different options. Choose a descriptive name for the “Sequence Name” space.
Step4
Once you have several sequences established, is it easy to switch back and forth between them. The Timeline panel has a tab for each sequence, and the active sequence is always the front-most tab. Click on the tab corresponding to the sequence you want to use to make it active.
Step5
You can also view a sequence in a separate Timeline panel by dragging the Sequence tab away from the panel to an empty area.
Step6
To open a sequence in the Source Monitor, press the “Ctrl” key while double-clicking the sequence in the Project panel.
