Getting your first period is the mark of womanhood. However, you may feel scared, nervous or clueless on how to approach your mom about the big news. There is no need to worry, as this article helps you get over your fear of telling your mom about menstruation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
You'd heard about a period before and your mom probably told you all about hers. Plus you know to wear sanitary pads or tampons but now the real thing is here you're freaking out! First of all, don't worry if you see a little blood on your underwear, because it is meant to be there during a certain time of the month. Just tell your mom when you two are alone. She will probably smile at you, tell you to wrap yourself up with some tissue while she goes to the store to buy you some pads as soon as possible.
Step2
Ask your mom to reflect on the time when she first got her period if you feel too embarrass to tell her right away. After she finishes telling her story, just say, 'Mom, I got my period.' More likely she will be delighted and will rave on about how her baby is growing up so fast. You might get embarrassed again, but at least the nerves probably went away after you told your mother.
Step3
Some girls keep this secret hidden for awhile but one day find the courage to let their mom know their period has begun. If you are this type, the best way to break the news is going shopping with your mom at the grocery store and tell her you will like to stop at a certain isle. Lead her to the direction you want to go without saying a word until you at the feminine hygiene area. She will know in a heartbeat that it is most likely for you so go ahead and make a remark stating that you started.

Tips & Warnings

  • There is no need to feel ashamed because it is naturally for all females to have periods.
  • Remember you are not alone and millions of girls at your age is going through the same thing.
