A delicious breakfast or snack that provides B vitamins for you and your family is "sprinkle toast." The name is half the fun. Nutritional yeast, which also adds a great nutty taste to popcorn, turns out to be an addictive food that you can buy in bulk. If your children go for the taste, you'll soon find they can't get enough, and this is easy enough for them to make in the toaster oven. You can even sprinkle nutritional yeast over dog food to improve the shininess of your pet's coat.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sliced bread of any type (even a baguette or round artisan loaf)
  • Butter or butter substitute
  • Nutritional yeast (small or large flakes)
  1. Step 1

Slice bread, if necessary, and butter it generously.

  2. Step 2

Sprinkle a small handful of nutritional yeast on top of the butter until the slice is covered.

  3. Step 3

Place the bread on a sheet of foil in the toaster oven on medium heat until the butter melts and the yeast "melts" into the butter. You can also use the broiler or conventional oven at 350 degrees, but this may require more parental supervision.

  4. Step 4

Slice the bread into triangles or squares and enjoy. Sprinkle toast is delicious with fruit or cereal in the morning and also works well as an after-school snack.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wheat bread adds even greater fiber and nutrition.
