Kickboxing is a great way to stay fit. By learning to perform moves correctly, you get the full benefits of the exercise and also cut down on the chance of injury. Learning to jab in kickboxing is easy; it only takes a little practice and proper form to execute this movement the right way.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin in the "on guard" position. Stand with your knees loose and slightly bent, one foot in front with your legs, shoulder width apart. Your hands should be in front of you, close to your face, fists loosely closed.

  2. Step 2

Jab with the hand on the side that's leading. That is, if your right leg is the front leg, jab with your right hand. You'll push off from your legs to provide the jab's power.

  3. Step 3

Bring your fist forward, rotating it inward. Your back heel will lift from the ground, and your back knee will straighten as you perform the jab.

  4. Step 4

Exhale as you execute the jab.

  5. Step 5

Keep your head low, chin behind your shoulder, while still looking straight ahead.

  6. Step 6

End the jab with your fist held so that your knuckles are horizontal.

  7. Step 7

Bring your arm back to the "on guard" position after you jab.

Tips & Warnings
  • When jabbing, don't pull your fist back before throwing it.
  • Don't lock your elbow when jabbing; this can lead to injury.
