Know your strengths. Are you fast? Nimble? A good catcher? In the rules of dodgeball there is what's called "The Opening Rush." The balls are placed on the center line of the playing field and players rush to get them. If you know you will be left standing vulnerable without a ball, hang back and let others run to the center line.

    • 2

Work as a team. Some of the more strategic moves in dodgeball require two people to pull off. One technique involves having one player toss a ball to a competitor very high. While they are focused on catching the high toss, a second player pegs them with another ball.

    • 3

Move fast. Don't stand still. Keep your eyes alert to all that is going on around you.

    • 4

Try target practice. Practice throwing the ball at a specific target to perfect your aim.

    • 5

Wear tennis shoes that have a firm grip and do not allow you to slid on the floor.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't attempt to catch a ball unless you have a good shot at actually catching it. If you miss you will be out.
