Children love to jump and play and there is no better way for them to burn all of their energy than on a trampoline. There are many factors going into choosing a trampoline but with the right precautions, your child will effectively learn and enjoy using a full-sized trampoline.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Before you introduce your child to the trampoline, you should examine the trampoline itself. Make sure that it is in excellent condition and none of the springs are exposed that can cause potential harm to a child. You should also install an enclosure net for extra safety because a child could be seriously hurt if they fall off of a trampoline. A safety net will prevent this.

  2. Step 2

You should show the child the trampoline first by going on it yourself. Jump around and show them the fun that the trampoline has. Perform a few minor tricks, like a spin, to show the stuff they can learn.

  3. Step 3

When the child is ready to go onto the trampoline, remain on it, but sit to the side. Let them jump around and get used to the shift of balance that will change. If you are jumping when they first go on, they could fall right away and not want to go on anymore.

  4. Step 4

Let them jump around a little bit and encourage their jumping. Have them jump to you, but remain sitting until they feel comfortable enough for you to jump too.

  5. Step 5

If the child is a little hesitant at first, or too scared to jump on their own then you can try holding them as you lightly jump. If they get happier and more excited, try to increase the jump height and speed and see what they are comfortable with.

  6. Step 6

Once the child is fine with jumping on their own you can begin to jump with them. Hold hands, teach them tricks, or do other activities like tag around the trampoline.

  7. Step 7

After a little while, get off the trampoline and see how they do on their own. If they have a sibling or friend around the same age, encourage them to go on so they can all jump and play together. It will be less stressful if they have people of all the same weight on the trampoline.
