How to Strengthen Core Muscles with Ball Exchange Exercises

Fitness balls are wonderful, versatile tools for toning up. Here is a useful exercise for strengthening your core muscles

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fitness ball
  • Fitness mat
  1. Step 1

    Lie on a fitness mat with your feet flat on the floor and your knees comfortably bent. Place your hands on the ground above your head, with the fitness ball held between them.

  2. Step 2

    Inhale a deep breath.

  3. Step 3

    Exhale, straightening your legs and raising both legs and arms towards the center.

  4. Step 4

    Raise your shoulders and upper back off the ground as you pass the ball from your hands to your feet.

  5. Step 5

    Hold the ball between the calves or ankles.

  6. Step 6

    With an inhale, lower half way down. Keep your shoulders and buttocks off the floor for an extra challenge.

  7. Step 7

    Exhale and bring the ball back to your hands.

  8. Step 8

    Inhale and lower halfway down with the exercise ball between your hands.

  9. Step 9

    Repeat at least six times at first. Slowly build up to more and more repetitions.

  10. Step 10

    After the final repetition, slowly lower your hands to the ground with the ball between them. At the same, bend your knees and lower them until your feet are flat on the ground.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your lower back hurts, or you find the exercise too hard, you can keep your knees bent.
  • Keep your head straight forward. Don't look to the side.
