How to Get a Jump Start on Mario Kart 64

1. Turn the console on and start a new race or circuit.

2. Remove your thumb from the gas button when the race screen pops up.

3. Notice that a stop light will appear on the screen indicating when the race will begin.

4. Notice that the light has three bulbs. Each of these bulbs will blink and after the third beep, the race will officially start.

5. Wait until the second beep occurs and then place your thumb firmly on the gas button.

6. Time it perfectly and fire will spit from the back of the character's kart and the player will rocket to the front of the race.
