How to Change Your Buddy Icon on iChat

iChat on Mac computers is a popular and easy way to stay in touch with online friends near and far. You can personalize your chatting by changing your buddy icon as much as you like. It's easy.

Instructions

    • 1

      Sign onto iChat.

    • 2

      Bring your arrow over the buddy icon at the top right of your buddy list. A down arrow will appear.

      Click on the image and a block menu will appear labeled "recent picture".

    • 4

      Leaving the menu open, select a photo file from anywhere on your computer: your iPhoto, a downloaded image, or a picture from Photo Booth.

    • 5

      Drag the photo into the "recent picture" menu. A new menu will pop up instructing you to drag the photo into a square to center it and correctly size it.

    • 6

      When you are satisfied, click "set." The picture will now be your buddy icon.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can always open up your "recent pictures" menu and switch the icon for another picture.
