How to Trim a Shower Curtain Liner

There's nothing worse that a shower curtain liner that's too long and constantly getting in the way when you're trying to bathe. Luckily, it's not difficult to trim that shower curtain liner to just the right size to fit your shower.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

 • Yard stick or tape measure
 •
Shower curtain liner
 •
Scissors
 •
Step stool (in some cases)
 •
Pen or marking pen

Step1
If the shower curtain liner is already hanging up, take it down, using the step stool if necessary.
Step2
Measure the length of the shower curtain itself, from top to bottom with the tape measure or yard stick. Make a note of the measurement.
Step3
Next, lay out the shower curtain liner on a flat surface. (The bed works well.)
Step4
Using the measurement of the shower curtain itself, mark that length on the bottom of the shower curtain liner on both sides. For example, if the length of the shower curtain is 60 inches, measure down the liner to 60 inches, add 1/2 inch to protect the curtain, and then mark the liner.
Step5
Using the yard stick or tape measure, and keeping the line even, mark the bottom of the shower curtain where you want to trim.
Step6
Following your markings, trim the shower curtain liner to the right size with the scissors.
Step7
Rehang the shower curtain liner and you're done!

Tips & Warnings

 • While you have the liner down, use some waterproof glue to attach a couple of magnets or small weights to the bottom of the liner, just to give it some body to stay inside the shower stall.
