Whistling is instant music and almost anyone can do it. But whistling can also be done with instruments, some of which are all around you. One of the most popular and plentiful of whistling instruments, for example, is a mere acorn cap. But please, exercise caution as to whom you show this particular trick. Children, especially, often become instant fans. Read on to learn how to whistle using an acorn cap.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Select an acorn cap. The cap should not be cracked, deformed or otherwise damaged.
Step2
Hold the cap in-between your thumb and pointer fingers, the inside of the cap facing you.
Step3
Position your two thumbs, back-to-back, so that they form a "Y. The knuckles should touch each other. Place your thumbs in front of the cap, so only an equilateral triangle is left showing.
Step4
Place your knuckles in-between your lips. Keep your lips pursed, so that your knuckles don't actually enter your mouth. When blowing, no air should escape out of your bottom lip.
Step5
Blow through your top lip, hard. You can rotate your wrists in order to adjust the angle.

Tips & Warnings

  • To change notes, move your tongue up and down.

  • To change octaves, adjust the size of your triangle.
