Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sandpaper
  •
Rubber patch
  •
Glue
  •
Bowl of water
  •
Bike pump
  1. Step 1

Let out any remaining air in the tire. Remove the tube from the wheel. If you can't do this by hand, use a flat, non sharp piece of metal to wedge the rubber tire away from the wheel so that the tube can be pulled out.

  2. Step 2

You will need to pump air into the tube to determine the location of the leak. The best way to do this is to place the inflated tube in a bowl of water and turn it until you see air bubbles. This will tell you the leak location. Alternatively, you can feel for escaping air, but watching for air bubbles is definitely easier.

  3. Step 3

Sandpaper the rubber around the hole to clean it and prepare it for the glue. Apply the glue on the area around the glue and wait for it to dry slightly, or become sticky, and then apply the patch to the tube.

  4. Step 4

Pump up your tube and, insert it back into the tire and you are ready to hit the road again.

Tips & Warnings
  • The object which caused the puncture may still be inside your tire. Check for this before placing your fixed tube inside the tire.
  • Repairing a punctured tube is not as good as buying a new tube, so when you have the opportunity to buy a new tube, choose that option.
