How to vanish a coin
Step1
Present the coin.
Hold both hands out with palms up and the coin lying in one of them for your audience to see. Be sure the coin is aged so it’s not very shiny. Use showmanship in your banter to make a big deal out of the simple fact that you’re holding a coin. “What you see before you is one U.S. minted coin, good for all debts public and private, right her in my magical hands."
Step2
State your intention.
“Just for you, right here, right now, I will make this coin undeniably vanish before your very eyes.”
Step3
Use verbal and visual distractions.
Continue to banter with hocus-pocus babble as you hide the coin. Wave the empty hand between your audience and the hand you’re hiding the coin in.
Step4
Conceal the coin.
Use your thumb to press the coin between your middle finger and ring finger, sideways. Pinch your fingers together so the edge of the coin does not show between them. This will take practice. Do not show your audience the back of your hand, as the coin will be poking through on that side.
Step5
Reveal the disappearance.
Hold both hands out, palms up to show that the coin has indeed vanished. If you must, pick a member of the audience on the side with the hand hiding the coin, and reposition the coin to the tips of your fingers while your hand is beside her head. Do this by folding your fingers over your palm and relaxing your grip on the coin to allow it to fall in your palm. That’s another thing that may require practice. Then you can appear to pull it from your assistant’s ear.
