Instructions

    • 1

Build your fire. You can use either a BBQ with charcoal, or build a wood fire in a pit. Allow the fire to burn down for several minutes. It is easier to toast your marshmallows over hot coals than to use an open fire.

    • 2

Place your marshmallow on the end of some type of long-handled utensil, such as a hotdog skewer, BBQ fork or even one made from a coat hangar. A long stick will work also. Push the skewer all the way through the marshmallow to secure it.

    • 3

Hold the marshmallow about 3 inches above the hot coals. Do not get it too close to the coals, or it will catch on fire, unless you are one of the people who like their marshmallows burned on the outside--then go ahead and do it.

    • 4

Rotate the marshmallow by turning the skewer when the desired color is reached on the underside. Keep doing this until the entire marshmallow is toasted to perfection.

    • 5

Remove the marshmallow from the heat source when it is fully toasted.

    • 6

Take the marshmallow off the skewer, but be very careful; both will be extremely hot.

    • 7

Eat and enjoy your freshly toasted marshmallow.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can dip your toasted marshmallows in sweet canned milk first and then in caramel, chocolate, nuts, coconut flakes or other toppings and finally finish them off with whipped topping. Use your imagination (and taste buds) to come up with additional toppings to use on your toasted marshmallow.

  • Always use fire safety when you are around a fire. It may be a good idea to have water or a fire extinguisher close by when you are toasting your marshmallows.
