Tired of nagging kids to do chores? Here's a quick card drawing game that might do the trick. Enjoy the process while you're at it, and don't forget to include one or two "yucky" chores!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

 • 10 to 12 playing cards from an old deck
 •
White paper, cut down to size of cards
 •
Pens or markers
 •
Baby wipes for cleaning (optional)

How to Divide Chores Using a Card Game

Step1
Remove 10 to 12 cards from an old deck.
Step2
On the same number of papers (cut down to the size of the cards) draw a chore and label it (one chore per card). A symbol of the chore is fine (broom for dusting) and the description only needs to be one or two words. Examples may be sweeping, dusting, straightening an area, decluttering a room, picking up clothes, doing dishes or an outside chore--whatever needs doing weekly.
Step3
Be sure to include a few yucky chores such as cleaning the toilet! This is good for laughs and groans (when you see who gets the card) and is doable for even the young if they use baby wipes. Be creative.
Step4
Tape each chore to each face up playing card.
Step5
Turn the cards face down and mix up.
Step6
Each family member picks a card. Sorry, you get what you get.
Step7
Check out your two, three or four cards and hop to it. In half an hour to an hour, all the chores should be finished. This may be a more manageable and fun way to go about chores, and everybody pitches in fairly equally for a while.

Tips & Warnings

 • A good time to do this is Saturday morning.
