How to use your X Box 360 controller for windows

      Remove your controller and all of its contents from the package, but don't connect it to your computer yet.

      Insert the installation disc included with your controller into your computer's CD or DVD drive, then proceed to Step 10. If you don't have the CD, then move on to Step 3.

      Go to http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/productdetails.aspx to download software. When you get to the site, click on “Downloads” in the Resources section on the left. You'll be taken to a page entitled "Download Gaming Software."

      Select “Controllers” in the drop-down menu under “Select type of product.”

      Choose “Xbox 360 Controller for Windows” in the drop-down menu beneath “Select your product.”

      Click on your version of Windows under the “Select your operating system” heading.

      Pick the language used in your version of Windows in the drop-down menu beneath “Select your operating system language.”

      Go to the download page by clicking on “Go” and simply click on the link provided to download the software suited to your previously chosen specifications.

      Save the file to your desktop and click on it to open the Setup file.

      Click “Install” on the Setup screen and simply follow the screen prompts to finish the installation. You may need to restart your computer.

      Plug in your Xbox 360 controller into one of your computer's USB ports. Windows will immediately recognize your controller.
