How to Use Apple Cider Vinegar to Soothe a Sore Throat

For centuries, the people of Vermont have made good use of apple cider vinegar for their health and even that of their farm animals. This vinegar is made from ripe apples that are fermented and processed to make the final product. Vinegar contains many vitamins, beta-carotene, pectin and minerals such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous, chlorine, sulphur, iron and fluorine. It also contains malic acid, which helps to fight fungal and bacterial infections. Using apple cider vinegar for a sore throat is easy and pleasant. Read on to learn how to use apple cider vinegar to soothe a sore throat.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Heat 8 oz. of filtered water and allow to cool slightly, until just warm.

  2. Step 2

    Add 1 tsp. of apple cider vinegar to your warm water.

  3. Step 3

    Gargle three times, spitting out the liquid the first two times.

  4. Step 4

    The third time you gargle, swallow the vinegar-water mixture.

  5. Step 5

    Repeat this process once each hour until your symptoms have improved or disappeared.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your sore throat returns, you can repeat the gargling process as many times as required.
  • If the apple cider vinegar gargle does not help your sore throat, you might be dealing with a serious medical condition. Be sure to visit your doctor if you are experiencing a high fever, chills or extreme pain.
