As a professional massage therapist, it is your responsibility to make sure that your client understands what will happen during the session. You goal is to have the client feel at ease and comfortable receiving your touch.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Greet your client in a friendly, caring and professional manner. Shake the client's hand. Welcome the client and introduce yourself.

  2. Step 2

Once you're in the massage room, before the client disrobes, ask the client why he came to see you today and what he would like you to focus on. Listen respectfully to what the client tells you. Repeat back a quick summary.

  3. Step 3

Tell the client that you are going to step out of the room while he disrobes to the level that he is comfortable. Give him specific directions as to how you want him to lay on the massage table--face up or face down. Remind him to pull the sheet over his body.

  4. Step 4

Knock before you enter the space. Ask the client if his is ready before you come in.
