Fill up on gas before you leave for your road trip. If your tank is filled with gas before you get on the highway, you'll actually conserve fuel and thus won't have to stop as quickly for gas.

Bring a cooler and buy plenty of food and beverages for your road trip. Doing this will eliminate any extra stops that you would make when you became hungry. This is also a good way to save some money while on your road trip.

Stay on highways and use cruise control whenever you can. Doing so is another way that you can conserve gas, thus allowing you to stay on the road for longer periods of time without having to fuel up.

Avoid soft drinks, coffee and other drinks that contain caffeine whenever possible. These drinks may keep you awake during your road trip but they will also cause you to need to use a restroom. I've found that by avoiding these drinks, I can drive for several consecutive hours without stopping.

Create a travel plan before you begin your road trip. Granted, a road trip can be more fun if it's spontaneous. However, not getting lost will save you from having to stop and ask for directions. It's yet another way to conserve gas as well.

Do several activities when you make a stop during a road trip. For example, plan to stop when you are low on gas. Then, use that time to eat a meal and use the restroom as well. Combining all of your stops into one will keep you on the road and get you to your destination more quickly.
