Lots of people visit spas each day to get relaxing facials, body wraps and massages. But another very large attraction is the process of microdermabrasion—where they blast your skin with particles to exfoliate it. If you have never enjoyed the process of exfoliation through microdermabrasion than you are missing out—this guide will show you how to get a microdermabrasion at your local day spa.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a good day spa. Make sure that you only book an appointment at spas that are certified by the State Board of Cosmetology. You may want to check and see if the spa has a website; usually you can get a good idea of what amenities it offers by checking their treatments listing online. You can look the spa up with your state's Board of Cosmetology by doing an online search in your region; each state has a different website.

  2. Step 2

Make an appointment. You want to make sure that the spa that you choose has ample treatment rooms, so you don’t have to wait, and has several aestheticians so there is always somebody free to give you a treatment when you arrive.

  3. Step 3

Dress appropriately. When getting a microdermabrasion, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.

  4. Step 4

Get a microdermabrasion. Enjoy your microdermabrasion and feel how vibrant and young your skin feels after the treatment.

  5. Step 5

Avoid direct sunlight after the process for several days as your skin will be more sensitive and prone to burning.
