How to Brush Toddler Teeth
Brushing a toddler's teeth can be stressful but it doesn't have to be. Insisting on brushing your toddler's teeth twice daily is important to ensure cavity free teeth and healthy gums, but you should be careful not to turn brushing time into a power struggle between you and your toddler.

1
Allow your toddler to choose a toddler sized toothbrush with soft bristles. Many child sized toothbrushes come in fun colors, animal shapes, popular cartoon characters and some even light up for the amount of time the child should brush.
-
2
Purchase toothpaste specially formulated for toddlers and small children. There are many brands that come in fruity flavors that appeal to toddlers, and more importantly, are approved by the American Dental Association.

3
Use a circular motion to brush your toddler's teeth beginning with the front teeth and moving to the back. It may help to have your toddler lay her head in your lap to brush instead of looking face to face. Do not apply too much pressure to your toddler's sensitive gums.

4
Brush your toddler's teeth for at least 2 minutes.

5
Instruct your child to spit and rinse his mouth when you are finished.
