Things You’ll Need:
- Foxit Reader or Foxit Reader Pro
- <br>PDF file
Comments
Step1
Show the "Comments" toolbar if it's hidden. Typically this toolbar shows by default in Foxit Reader, but if you don't see it go to "View," "Toolbars" and "Commenting Tools."
Step2
Access the commenting commands via the sub-menu as an alternative to the toolbar. Select "Tools," then "Commenting Tools."
Step3
View the Drawing Markup toolbar as well. This feature is closely related to the comment commands, allowing you to draw shapes and text on a PDF file. To show this toolbar click on "View," "Toolbars," then "Drawing Markup Tools" or go to "Tools," then "Drawing Markup Tools."
Annotate PDF Files
Step1
Add note comments. The note comment places a yellow "speech bubble" icon in the PDF file. This is the least intrusive way to add notes to a PDF file as it shows only the icon--not the comment. Click the Note Tool icon (which looks like a speech bubble) on the "Comments" toolbar. Then, click on the location PDF file where you'll be adding the note and type your text in the dialog that appears.
Step2
Add text markup. Markups such as highlighting, strike throughs or underlining can be added to any of the text in a document. Select the type of markup you'd like to add by clicking on the arrow next to the "Highlight Tool" button. Click on the icon of the chosen tool, hold down the mouse button and drag the icon to apply that markup to the text.
Step3
Add a caret. Carets can be used to insert text into any sentence and works much like the note comment tool. Click on the "Caret Tool" in the "Comments" toolbar. Then select the point in a sentence at which you wish to add text. Click on that point and type the additional text in the dialog box.
Step4
Use the typewriter tool to add text. Foxit Reader's typewriter tool allows you to add text anywhere in the document, in any font or color. It's particularly useful for writing notes in the margins of a document. Select the "Typewriter Tool" button on the "Comments" toolbar and click on the location to add the text. Type the comments, hitting the "Enter" key when you need a new line. This tool is particularly useful for writing notes in the margins of a document.
Step5
Create arrows, boxes, lines and freehand drawings with the "Drawing" tools. From the "Drawing Markup Tools" toolbar, select a with which to draw. Once selected, click and drag it to the correct place in the PDF file.
