How to Play Jeopardy With Your Friends

Jeopardy may be the most popular game show in TV history. Playing it at home is also a fantastic way to get to know a new group of people. Use this as an icebreaker for team programs, leadership groups or camps. The questions can be customized for age groups or professional specialties.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Ten or more people
  • <br>3x5 index cards (3 per person)
Step1
Hand out three index cards to each person. Instruct each person to write something interesting and unique about themselves that they have not yet told anyone. Examples of this are: humorous incidences, weird talents or strange phobias.
Step2
Collect all the index cards and examine what people submitted. Split the submissions into categories as accurately as you can.
Step3
Once you have your categories, you can arrange the cards on a display in their categories with numbers on the backs of the cards ($200, $400, and so on). This step is optional.
Step4
Bring the group together and split them into teams of approximately five people each. Use the display of the cards, or tell each team the categories and have each team elect a player to play. The elected players come to the front and one of them picks a category and the amount.
Step5
The facilitator reads the "fun fact." For example: "This person once swam with dolphins," or "This person has never seen the ocean," and one of the elected players "buzzes in" either with an actual buzzer (if you have it) or by raising his hand to answer the question. If he answers correctly, his team wins the amount of points (don't use actual dollars). If he answers incorrectly, one of the other elected players has the opportunity to guess the right answer. If all the elected players answer incorrectly, the facilitator will reveal the answer.
Step6
Each team elects a new player to represent them every two questions or so, to give everyone a chance to play. Keeping score is not really important, but you may if you like. The point of the game is to have fun, break the ice and allow everyone to get to know everyone else.
