With Adobe Premiere Pro, you can edit audio clips much like you edit video. You can put different effects on it, mix as many tracks as your computer is able to hold, and each track can have channels of mono, stereo, or 5.1 surround. Here are the basics on how to use audio samples or tracks in your video Timeline.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Import the tracks into your project. Go to your File menu and choose Import. Locate the track stored on your computer and click OK.

  2. Step 2

You can set very precise “In and Out points” on your audio tracks in the Source Monitor. Drag your newly imported audio track to the Source Monitor by clicking on it in the Project window. When you drag an audio-only clip to the Source Monitor window you will see only the audio in the window, represented by wave lines, called the Waveform Display.

  3. Step 3

Listen to your track or scroll to the point where you want the In point. When you locate it, click the “Set In Point” button in the Source Monitor window. It is the bracket shaped icon on the upper left, under the Monitor.

  4. Step 4

Find the Out point by listening to the track to locate the exact stopping point of the track. Click the “Set Out Point” button, located just to the right of the “Set In Point” button.

  5. Step 5

Go to your Timeline and position your Current Time Indicator to the frame that your audio should cue to (it’s starting point.)

  6. Step 6

Drag the clip from the Source Monitor directly to the Timeline and position it to the right of the Current Time Indicator line.

  7. Step 7

Go to your Sequence Menu at the top of your Workspace and select “Render Work Area” to view your Video and Audio clips together.

  8. Step 8

You can make precise adjustments to the placement of your audio clip by zooming in to the video clip. The Zoom In-Out scroll bar is at the bottom left-hand corner of your Timeline window.
