What is it that you want to say? Do you want to make idle promises that you probably can’t keep just to win their vote? Or do you want to make an impression on them by emphasizing their issues as being your concern? Here are a few suggestions on how to write a political campaign speech.

How to Write a Political Campaign Speech

  1. Step 1

Begin by not promising anything you can’t do. Even if it’s something you really want to do, don’t promise you’ll do it unless you know for a fact that you can.

  2. Step 2

Before you begin writing the speech, investigate the people you’ll be speaking to. Learn their issues, their needs and their hopes in you as their elected. Become as informed as possible about the things that concern them as members of that community.

  3. Step 3

Once you know their issues and concerns, you can research the appropriate avenues to learn what steps have been taken, if any, to resolve any of these issues. If nothing has been done or could be done, find out why not and what possible solutions could be derived to settle these concerns.

  4. Step 4

Learn what this community does for special events, targets, political agendas, health issues etc. Find out what has put them on them map metaphorically and what makes them unique.

  5. Step 5

Begin your speech by getting the audience to be one minded with you. Praise their community, compliment their environment and their dedication to whatever program or charitable organization they represent. Win their attention and their hearts by showing them that you know who they are and that they are the reason America is still free.

  6. Step 6

Then, go into their issues and concerns and express how you have the same mind for these issues, and that you believe these issues need to be dealt with.

  7. Step 7

Share with them some of the possible help solutions that you have learned are available to them, and ensure them that their concerns have now become yours and that you are going to help them to rise above these issues because you believe they deserve it.

  8. Step 8

Any issues that you can’t see a solution to such as they need more money for farm machinery to help work their land but the government’s helping hands are tied, you can tell them that you will absolutely look into every possible avenue on their behalf to stress to the government their need. Tell them that you will fight for them for as long as it takes and that if you were elected, you would have that much more power in government to see their needs met.

  9. Step 9

Don’t knock down your opponents. Believe it or not, it damages your credibility because you’re showing the people that you don’t care about them as people, but that you’ll backstab and backbite anyone just to get elected. The people need someone to represent them who will help them with their community issues, and not someone who is caught up in their own personal competitive fights for the job.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you can win over all the small communities, one at a time, with a voice of concern, you can eventually win them all. The key is to not promise anything you can’t fulfill. It instantly discredits you as a government rep, and there has been so much of that happening that the people on a whole are loosing faith in our government.
  • <br>Be wise, be honest and be yourself in your speech. The people will trust you when they see that you are honest and respect others as much as you say you respect them.
