Talking to girls as a teen can be hard, no matter who you are. Communication is really difficult sometimes, even if everyone is speaking the same language. Everyone has different ways of expressing themselves, so it may take practice to learn how to communicate with someone you don't know very well. 1. No matter what, remember that the nervousness you might feel while deciding to talk to a girl is totally normal. In fact, the girl you want to talk to probably feels just as nervous in certain situations herself.

2. Take some deep breaths or close your eyes to ease your own stress. Fear of rejection is tough, for teens and for adults too, so you have to do things to take care of yourself when you are stressed out.

3. Practice with someone you trust. Get comfortable with the things you might want to talk about while you are practicing and then you won't be nervous about forgetting what you were going to say.

4. Be yourself. Don't try to pretend to be someone you aren't. If you don't like the girl's outfit, don't say that you do. She will know that something is up the same way you know when someone is being phony. If you like sports, talk to her about a sport you think she might like. Then, when you talk, you won't have to fake anything because you are being true to yourself.

5. Ask her questions. Everyone, boys and girls, kids and grown-ups, love to talk about themselves. Ask her questions about things that actually interest you, not just topics that don't matter and sound random.

6. If it doesn't go as well as you would like, give yourself a break. Don't be hard on yourself and tell yourself that you are bad at something. This kind of communication is hard, so take a break before you give it another shot.
