Green Clean in Your Kitchen With Salt

Step1
Sprinkle some salt onto spills on your oven floor so as to prevent smoke and burning odor. Let the oven cool completely and then brush or wipe away the spill using a damp cloth.
Step2
Sprinkle salt onto the grease in greasy pans right after you remove the food. Let this sit for 30 minutes, wipe it of with a paper towel and then clean as usual.
Step3
Boil a strong solution of water and salt, and pour this down your kitchen drains to get rid of odors and prevent grease and grime build-up.
Step4
Remove lipstick or food stains on your drinking glass by rubbing at the stain with salt before you put it into the dishwasher. If the stains still do not come off, stir 1/4 cup salt into 2 cups vinegar and soak the glass in the solution overnight, then wipe the stain off in the morning and wash it.
Step5
Clean and freshen your refrigerator with a solution of salt and water. Toss salt on a grease fire on your stove or oven to extinguish it.

Green Clean in Your Bathroom With Salt

Step1
Get rid of mildew and mold from bathroom tile, shower doors and walls as well as your tub by scrubbing with a mixture of salt and lemon juice.
Step2
Restore white enamel fixtures that have yellowed. Make a paste from salt and turpentine and use this to scrub your bathtub, sinks and toilet bowls. Let the paste sit for at least 15 minutes and then wipe it off with a damp cloth. Protect your hands with rubber gloves.

Green Clean Metal With Salt

Step1
Clean and shine metal surfaces. Mix one part salt, one part vinegar and one part salt into a smooth paste. Use a soft cloth to rub it on copper, brass or pewter. (Be very gentle with the pewter as it is a soft metal that can scratch easily.) Leave this on for at least half an hour and then rinse off with hot water. Buff with soft cloth.
Step2
Polish a tarnished silver item by spraying it with vinegar and sprinkling this with salt. Scrub it with a sponge and then rinse thoroughly to remove any and all traces of salt.
Step3
For slightly tarnished copper or brass, slice a lemon in half, dip it in salt, and clean the item with it. Rinse thoroughly.
Step4
Remove rust by rubbing it with a soft cloth dipped in a paste made from salt and fresh lemon juice.

Green Clean Stains in Your Home With Salt

Step1
Immediately blot up spilled red wine and then sprinkle the spot with salt. Leave this for ten to fifteen minutes, and the salt will absorb the remaining wine, even turning pink as it does so. Dilute one cup of vinegar with two cups of water and use the solution to clean up the area.
Step2
Stir 1/4 cup of salt in one cup of rubbing alcohol and use this to get rid of a grease spot, rubbing in the same direction of the carpet nap. Rinse with a sponge and water and then blot dry.
Step3
Wipe coffee and tea stains from your countertops using a soft cloth or a sponge dampened in a mixture of salt and white vinegar.
