Nowadays a lot of people are using outlook to send and receive business e-mail with attachment files. As volumes of business e-mail grow extensively, people find that the time at the office is not enough to read them all and to be on the top of all issues. This sometimes requires people to read and follow up e-mails and reports at home or even on the road.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • PC
  • Laptop
  • OUTLOOK software launch
Step1
When you are working offline, you are working with a copy of your Outlook files on your computer. Working offline means not being connected to the Internet. This allows you to keep working while traveling or away from your desk.

First, on the "Tools" menu, click "E-Mail Accounts", click "View or change existing e-mail accounts", and then click "Next".
Step2
Next, in the "Outlook processes e-mail for these accounts in the following order" list, click "Microsoft Exchange Server", and then click "Change"
Step3
Click "More Settings".
Step4
When you see the "Advanced" tab, click it and then click "Offline Folder File Settings".
Step5
In the File box, type the path to the file you want to use as the .ost file.
Step6
The default file name is Outlook.ost. If this file already exists, you will be prompted for a new name.

You should not use an OST file that was previously used. (You may wish to first delete the existing file and create a new "outlook.ost".)

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure to test the setting after complete. Depending on the version of outlook, the final setting may be slightly different.
