This is place is one of the coolest places in Hollywood. Expect to spend a day here... We went to just about every show and ride there. Lots of places to eat in the City Walk. I would definitely recommend the Terminator 2 3D show. The environment comes alive with lights, smoke, and air puffs.

Step1

The first, biggest, and best of the backstage studio tours that take you behind-the-scenes to reveal all the magic that goes into movie-making. It's in a continuous state of evolvement, so you can go every few years and see a number of new shows or exhibits, many based on a blockbuster film (although the latest, inspired by the gross-out TV series 'Fear Factor,' suggests they're running out of creative ideas). A tram ride with commentary takes you onto the back lots to see such icons as the Bates motel and house from 'Psycho,' the shark from 'Jaws,' and the Beaver Cleaver home. Highlights along the journey include a spectacular simulated earthquake in a San Francisco BART station - crashing water cascades down the steps as the ceiling caves in and a train on the adjacent track derails - and King Kong threatening the citizens of New York.

Many shows involve audience participation and a lot of the exhibits are interactive. (Several years ago, my sister was selected to play Ethel Mertz in the famous candy factory scene from 'I Love Lucy,' and the videotape of her stuffing her face with chocolate beside Lucille Ball is a priceless memento.) Refreshment kiosks, fast food stands, and more formal restaurants provide sufficient nourishment, and a variety of gift shops will break your budget. Outside the main entrance, Universal Walk plays host primarily to chain restaurants and other tourist-type draws. Arrive when the gates open and stay until closing to see it all and get your money's worth.

If Walt Disney World didn't exist I would say that this is the greatest place on the face of the Earth, but since Disney World does in fact exist, I will say this must be the second greatest place on the face of the Earth. There are countless special attractions that are truly astonishing. I can't do the place justice by any means by telling you everything it has to offer. It's truly indescribable. It's like being in a whole different World all together. Plus you experience movies in a whole new, more personal way. You will probably end up learning a thing or two while you are there as well.
