Today's high cost of living often translates into the perceived need of the two income family. Working at home has many advantages. Not only can you spend more time raising your children, you can also get cheap labor for your business.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • A work at home business
  • Kids
  • Friendly contract

Step1
Talk to your kids about the possibility of helping out with your work at home business. See if they are interested or simply tell them that they will be helping out the family.
Step2
Determine what tasks in your business can be done by the kids. Younger kids can collate papers, fold pamphlets, pack boxes, and do other menial tasks. Older kids can be more involved with the technical and customer service aspects.
Step3
Discuss what type of compensation, if any, the kids will get for their work in your work at home business. You can pay your children either an hourly or per job rate of money, or create a system in which they can earn rewards such as new toys or trips to the movies.
Step4
Besides recruiting your kids to do work in your home based business, be sure to teach them about having a strong work ethic, paying attention to details, and persevering until a job is done.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make out a contract with your child to teach responsibility.
  • Do not overwork your child.
