Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Put together a small area of kindling. Anything that would burn easily. Dried leaves, tiny twigs, old bark, some paper, etc. Helps if you form a 'tent' shape with any kindling pile. Place the quicker burning goodies at the bottom of your tent with small twigs forming the tepee effect on top.
Step2
Find some ice. The ice must be clear like glass. A piece from a pond, base of a large icicle, etc.
Step3
With your knife, carve somewhat of a circle, keeping the center thicker than the edges. This will work as a lens of sorts.
Step4
With your hands, rub your new ice lens until it's good and shiny.
Step5
Now just as you would with a magnifying glass, mirror or other lens; aim your ice lens at the sun and keep your off-shoot of light aimed at your kindling pile.
Step6
Once your fire starts, lightly blow on it and shield it from any bad winds.
